— Power management company Eaton today announced that three employees have been recognized as recipients of 2018 STEP Ahead Awards
for excellence in manufacturing. Launched by The Manufacturing Institute
, the STEP Ahead Awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory floor to the C suite.
The three distinguished Eaton women to receive the STEP Ahead Award are:
- Tomasina Bailey: A director of engineering with Eaton’s Aerospace division, Tomasina supports her global team in new product development and introduction, research and development, sustaining and aftermarket programs. She also plays an instrumental role in multiple internal employee resource groups and community outreach programs, including mentoring early career engineering students and giving them the opportunity to develop highly technical skills.
- Claire Castleman: As a sustainability program manager, Claire has been a strategic partner and technical leader on many key program elements of Eaton’s corporate sustainability initiatives. She serves as Eaton's representative in the Harvard Sustainability and Health Initiative for Net Positive Enterprise (SHINE) and also led the development of an Eaton internal standard on Energy Management which was published for use by manufacturing locations globally in late 2016.
- Cheryl Hodge: Cheryl has built a distinguished career with more than 25 years in sales and operations planning (S&OP) for manufacturing organizations. As a demand manager for Eaton’s Residential & Wiring Devices Division, she uses her understanding of demand forecasting, coupled with a passion for understanding commercial issues and market forces, to shape demand conversations across all functions of the business.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be recognized among this group of extraordinary women,” said Hodge. “The mission of the STEP Ahead initiative is one that is close to my heart, and it’s my sincere hope that through the program, more women are able to understand and capitalize on the wealth of career opportunities available to them in the manufacturing industry.”
The STEP Ahead Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent. In five years, STEP Ahead Award winners have impacted more than 300,000 individuals — from peers in the industry to school-aged children.
“The women who we are celebrating represent the exciting career opportunities available in manufacturing,” said Natalie Schilling, 2018 Chair of STEP Ahead and Vice President of Human Resources at Arconic. “The STEP Ahead Award honors successful women in this industry for their significant achievements and the positive impact they have made on their companies, their communities and the industry as a whole.”
The three Eaton honorees will be recognized alongside 127 other women at a STEP Ahead Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. on April 10, 2018. The STEP Ahead Awards program will highlight each honoree’s story, including their leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
